According to Bravo’s official site, the series will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. Tom Colicchio from “Top Chef” hosts the show. The world-renowned chef and restaurateur with an intense personality Gordon Ramsay from “Masterchef” and “Hell’s Kitchen” produces the series with his production company One Potato Two Potato. The show’s press release stated that the CEO of BlackboardEats.com Maggie Nemser and co-founder of Wichcraft Jeffrey Zurofsky will be the judges alongside Colicchio.
“Best New Restaurant” has 16 restaurant staffs that will encounter several challenges that capture the elements of a good restaurant such as food, decoration, hospitality and overall concept.
In the first round, the pressure test is serving a crowd of 30 customers out of the blue to evaluate the restaurant’s stress management. Included in the season’s challenges are creating pop-up restaurants and serving diners who are undercover.
The show’s locations are mostly inside different restaurants simultaneously to take a fresh look on the point of view of the establishment during challenges.
The prizes are a featured spot at Bon Appetit’s food festival Vegas Uncork’d 2015, America’s top international food celebration, an editorial spread in Bon Appetit, the official partner of the show like “Top Chef” and $100,000.
The restaurants that will compete are from Austin, Los Angeles, Miami and New York. The 16 restaurants are Swift’s Attic, Restaurant Jezebel, Porter Ale House and Gastropub, Barlata Tapas Bar, Union Restaurant, The Church Key, Little Sparrow, Doma Beverly Hills, Tongue & Cheek, R House, The Federal, Dolce Italian, Buns & Buns, The Pines, Morgan’s Barbecue and L’Apicio.
